Today an Urban Innovation Seminar was held at the Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol with the main focus on Smart Cities.
The seminar’s organizer and TUT Smart City Project Manager Ralf-Martin Soe introduced the FINEST Twins project. The FINEST Twins Center of Excellence will be the first EU cross border Smart City research excellence and demo lab capable to provide mutual/scalable state-of-art urban services and attract international expertise and investment, as well as, act as a springboard for the exportation of Finnish-Estonian knowledge and service solutions on a global scale.
The keynote speaker was Jarmo Eskelinen, the CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki and council member and former president of ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs), who presented the open approach as the driver of smart cities.
Third presenter was Rene Tõnnisson from Tartu Smart City Lab, who gave an overview of Smart City Cluster activities to date and introduction to a new Cluster Project. The last speaker of the seminar was Madis Sassiad from GoSwift, who introduced a new Finnish project maas.fi, which provides consumers with smart and customized mobility services.
Project partners are Tallinn University of Technology, Forum Virium Helsinki, Aalto University and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia.
