Code for Europe Fellowships for Helsinki

Code forEurope is an organization looking to enliven a culture of innovation in the city government. By leveraging the talents and creativity of developers and designers, we will make governments more open and efficient, and develop cutting edge technology to benefit all of its citizens. We are looking for smart and motivated recruits to bring tech-savvy and a fresh perspective to government.

Code for Europe fellowship programme was launched for the first time in year 2013. After very successful first year we are looking for new talented Code for Europe fellows for year 2014 in a number of European cities – including Helsinki. The Helsinki fellow will be recruited by the City of Helsinki’s IT Division.

The fellowship programme will last for 12 months of which the fellows will be paid 40.000 EUR/year. The programme also compensates the travel and accommodation costs related to the programme’s international training events in other European cities.

The fellowship programme helps cities to leverage technology and to better engage the community by supporting the movement towards transparency and collaboration. The fellows and the cities will not only make a real difference in each location, but they also show what’s possible in any city.

City of Helsinki’s ICT Department fellowship programme aims at developing versatile mobile city services. The Code for Europe fellow will map potential points of development and participate to the development projects as an expert. The fellowship position requires experience in mobile applications and knowledge in interface solutions.

The City of Helsinki’s IT Division is responsible for planning and executing the IT strategy of the City. It co-ordinates and directs the development of the IT activities of the City, and helps the management of the City and the branches of administration in making decisions concerning information technology and its use as well as in carrying out the decisions.

The deadline for the applications is December 1st, 2013.
