Who are you, where are you from and what kind of work have you done?
“I’m Lauri Gates and I come from the game industry, where I’ve worked as a data system developer and administrator. I’ve done everything from physical installations of servers and networks to the configuration, design and implementation of the services and monitoring run on these systems, and everything in between.”
What project will you be working on and what is your role in it?
“I’ll be developing the configuration, administration and user support of various cloud services and platforms in cooperation with the administrative team and other experts.”
What are you looking forward to doing and seeing?
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to learn new things and share what I have learned before. Forum Virium has many fascinating projects where the implementation of the development environments is sure to require everyone to learn and try new things.”
What inspires you?
“Problem-solving, new things and finding and implementing better solutions. The opportunities to lighten, facilitate and accelerate others’ work and life so that they have time to focus on what’s important.”
What do you do when you are not working?
“When I’m not at work, I often play PC and tabletop role-playing games, develop coding and electronics projects and run my own servers at home. I also do all kinds of craft projects – and sometimes I even finish them!”
How do you want to develop smart cities?
“I want to provide all kinds of project teams with the best possible environments for developing smart cities.”
What kind of know-how do you bring to Forum Virium Helsinki?
“I have extensive knowledge of various systems and solutions and the automation and integrations of configurations, as well as the ability to take a long-term view of system entities.”
