Open Cities App Challenge is a pan-European open data competition with four participating cities: Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam and Barcelona. The best product or service will be rewarded with €3,000.
Open Cities App Challenge calls for innovative products or services that:
- use open data
- solve a real problem in citizens’ every day urban life
For the competition entries, participants can utilize already opened data sources from Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam and Barcelona.
One goal is to find internationally viable solutions: applications that can be used in more than one country.
Deadline for the competition entry is 30th of June 2012. You can vote for your favorite app on the competition homepage.
The finalists are announced in August 2012. The chosen Top 10 will have an opportunity to pitch their applications in front of a jury during the Smart City Expo 2012 organized in Barcelona in November 2012.
The winner will be rewarded with €3,000.
