Forum Virium Helsinki is organising an open call for agile piloting to solve last meter challenges at shopping centre REDI in Kalasatama. Forum Virium Helsinki is seeking an autonomous courier, and service design to support its implementation in last meter pilots in REDI. The open call will remain open until 16 April 2020.
REDI last meter pilots are part of the 6Aika (Six City Strategy) New Solutions in City Logistics project, which seeks smart solutions for organising urban logistics as lightly, sustainably and effectively as possible.
How can we tackle the last meter delivery challenges in everyday smart housing?
As online shopping becomes an everyday and routine activity for more and more people, the need to tackle last mile and last meter challenges increases. Even in cities, people who live close to services desire flexible ordering and delivery options, all the way to their front doors.
With this open call, Forum Virium Helsinki is seeking an autonomous courier that will be tested in REDI, and service design to support autonomous delivery pilot and develop service experience of the home-on-demand concept. This open call is being organised in collaboration with SRV & Kone oyj.
The maximum total price of the autonomous courier is EUR 20,000 (VAT 0%), while the maximum total price of the supporting service design is EUR 10,000 (VAT 0%). The aim of the open call is to primarily select one actor to carry out the autonomous delivery pilot and one service design partner. A single actor can also submit offer for both, as long as they can demonstrate the necessary competence.
The experiments to be carried out will be selected by the jury of the New Solutions in City Logistics project. The selected actors will participate in the kick-off event and preparation of the experiment in spring 2020, and the experiment itself will be carried out in August–September 2020.
Helsinki offers companies a living lab environment for testing of new services and products. Carrying out experiments in a real environment allows for the collection of genuine user feedback, lessons and practical experience. The agile pilot is facilitated by Forum Virium Helsinki. The New Solutions in City Logistics project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Six City Strategy (6Aika). The funding is granted by the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. The project will run from 2018 to 2020.
