Our new expert publication, From Need to Solution – A Co-Creation Guide for the Social and Health Care Sector, discusses ways in which co-creation can improve existing municipal services and create new ones.

Co-creation has increased its popularity worldwide. In Finland, it offers a proven way of solving even complex challenges in the social and health care sector.

The role of cities as traditional service providers is shifting towards them becoming enablers of innovative services. Co-creation with companies allows new technologies to be harnessed in a cost-effective, agile and quick manner for solving the challenges in the social and health care sector as well as developing new needs-based services for the residents of municipalities.

Our guide is intended for city decision-makers, developers and other public sector innovators in particular. The guide also provides information on the working methods of co-creation for companies that are interested in cooperation with the public sector.

Experiences gained from 35 business experiments

The guide provides information on the co-creation method as well as practical tools for implementing co-creation projects.

The case examples in the guide demonstrate how different challenges in the social and health care sector have been successfully solved by utilising the method.

The guide is based on experiences and observations gained from 35 business experiments carried out in the 6Aika Co-Created Health and Wellbeing (CoHeWe) project between 2018 and 2020. The participants in the experiments included 148 companies, 830 social and health care professionals and 1,490 clients of social and health care services.
