Forum Virium Helsinki has become an affiliate partner of the EIT ICT Labs. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent body of the European Union. The EIT has been set up to address Europe’s innovation gap and one of its key goals is to help transform innovative ideas into products and services that create sustainable growth and jobs.
EIT ICT Labs
EIT ICT Labs is one of the first three Knowledge and Innovation Communities selected by EIT to accelerate innovation in Europe. It aims to fulfil its mission of turning Europe into the global leader in ICT innovation by establishing a new type of partnership between leading companies, research centres, and universities in Europe.
The EIT ICT Labs builds upon Nodes / Co-location Centres (Berlin, Eindhoven, Helsinki, Paris, Stockholm and Trento), leading in ICT, and their partners representing global companies, leading research centres, top universities, and other key players in the innovation field. The goal is to turn these already excellent regional clusters into world-class innovation hotspots. Each Node has its unique profile within EIT ICT Labs.
Helsinki Node/Co-location Center
The Helsinki Node of EIT ITC Labs focuses among others on Smart Spaces, Health and Wellbeing, and Service Design. The aim of the Helsinki Node is to be an active thought leader in setting the Finnish agenda for future ICT.
The three core partners of the Helsinki Node are Aalto University, Nokia, and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The affiliated partners include universities and research institutes, and other key actors of the Finnish ICT innovation system.
EIT ICT Labs leverage on existing regional, national and EU-level funding instruments and offers the benefits of its wide network to its partners.
