The eHealth competition rewards the best eHealth solutions developed by EU small and medium enterprises (SME’s). The 2014 competition had 154 candidates, 24 of them Finnish. The Finnish candidates were highly successful, and the 16 finalists included 7 Finnish SME’s. The finalists presented their solutions to an international jury in April in connection of the WoHIT conference in Nice. The jury emphasized innovation, the impact of the solutions and the enterprises’ international growth potential in their selection of winners.
Medixine Oy of Espoo placed third in the competition’s Champions series for the largest SME’s. Medixine Board Chairman Tapio Jokinen believes that the competition, now in its third edition, gives the participants visibility and reinforces their messages about company competitiveness on the fast developing eHealth market. He says, “The European market is shifting rapidly from pilot projects to large-scale commercial production. Pioneering enterprises like Medixine have every opportunity to achieve major competitive advantage on this international market.”
The Medixine eHealth solution in the competition was the Medixine Clinic product, which allows health care providers to produce new electronic services for the treatment, prevention and screening of disorders. Medixine’s main clients are both public and private health care providers as well as insurance companies.
British SME’s took first prize in two series of the competition: the winners of the Champions and Promises series were Big White Wall and Aseptika Limited respectively. See all winners and other finalists on the competition’s Website. The national Finnish coordinator of the competition was Forum Virium Helsinki.
