The 20th International Technology Conference Mindtrek brings you latest from the field of Open Source, Open Data, Immersion and Smart City. On the 17-19 of October, also several other interesting smart city events take place in Tampere, Finland. See you there!
Mindtrek is an international conference about Open Source, Open Data, Immersion and Smart City. It organised on the 17-19 of October in Tampere, now for the 20th time.
Mindtrek is a unique package of technologies, ideas and a possibility of networking to build the future. The speakers include, for instance, the world’s first Cyborg Artist Neil Harbisson, Ph.D. and Urban Strategist Boyd Cohen, and Finnish technology expert and columnist Petteri Järvinen.
On Monday 17th of October at16:00 – 17:00, “Data-driven business: how do companies do it?” session showcases examples from leading Finnish companies that have turned data into a key element of their business. Coming from sectors like forestry and transport, the cases highlight why all companies should care about open and/or big data. We will also hear how cities in The Six City Strategy Open Data spearhead project and organizations like TIEKE and COSS help companies discover the possibilities data can offer to their business.

Alongside with Mindtrek, an interesting Smart City event takes place to discuss themes like Smart Mobility, Circular Economy in Cities, Future Health, Urban Planning, Open Participation, Open Innovation Platforms and Open Data.
The event is organised by COSS, City of Tampere and 6Aika cities as part of the Mindtrek 2016 conference.
6aika – the Six City Strategy – is a strategy for sustainable urban development carried out by the six largest cities in Finland: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu. The strategy will be carried out between 2014 and 2020 with the aim of creating new know-how, business and jobs in Finland.
