Since 1995, FutureEverything has been exploring the meeting point of technology, society and culture which lies at the heart of the digital debate. This year, the Future Everything Festival was arranged for the 20th time. One of the speakers in the conference was Forum Virium Helsinki’s CEO Jarmo Eskelinen.
On February 26-28th the event brought together artists, designers, city makers, activists, technologists and business people together for a two day conference in Manchester. The programme featured inspiring talks and numerous participatory workshops, debates and sessions.
The conference asked “what now?” for our digital culture? Do we need a bigger vision than open, local, bottom up is best? What are the values and narratives that will define the twenty years to come?

Jarmo Eskelinen also participated in a panel discussing citizen involvement, radicalism in the city, and creating new models for democracy. Other panelist were Cllr Sue Murphy, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, activist, theorist and campaigner for Scottish Independence Pat Kane, Gabriella Gomez Mont, and Enric Hidalgo.
