Helsinki had the best digital twin and the most sustainable Smart Mobility in the world in 2024.

  1. World’s Happiest Country

    The 2024 World Happiness Report was published in March 2024 and focused on the happiness of different age groups. According to the report, Finland maintained its top position as the world’s happiest country for the seventh consecutive year.Finland’s high ranking is due to, among other things, strong social security, equal opportunities, trust in societal institutions, and a low level of corruption. In addition, Finns’ high-quality healthcare, education system, and quality of life contribute to general well-being. Finland’s nature, equality, and sense of control over life also increase citizens’ happiness. The stability of society and people experiencing less stress in their daily lives positively affect citizens’ experiences of happiness.Although the 2024 report does not focus on innovations, technological development and innovations can generally improve the quality of life and increase happiness by providing new solutions to challenges in healthcare, education, and other areas of life.

  2. World’s Best Digital Twin

    Helsinki ranked as one of the world’s leading future-ready cities in ThoughtLab’s “From Future Vision to Urban Reality” study. The study assessed 250 cities around the world, and Helsinki was identified as an excellent example of a future-oriented city.Special mention is given to Helsinki’s digital twin, which can be described as the world’s best.   3. World’s Most Responsible Smart Mobility

    Helsinki performs well in the 2024 Urban Mobility Readiness Index, especially in terms of sustainable mobility and the use of electric vehicles. The city’s smart traffic can be described as the world’s most responsible. Helsinki is among the cities that promote the adoption of electric buses and other vehicles. Helsinki is also known for its innovative mobility solutions and invests in the electrification of transport and sustainable development.

    In the world’s leading smart city comparison index, the IMD Smart City Index 2024, Helsinki ranks ninth. Helsinki has a strong position in smart city comparisons due to its combination of high-level technology, sustainable development, and quality of life for residents. Helsinki’s investments in the electrification of transport, smart infrastructure, and sustainable development make the city a good example of what smart cities can offer their residents.
