The European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) brings together cities, industry and citizens to improve urban life through more sustainable integrated solutions. As part of the ‘Citizen Focus’ EIP SCC action cluster, the city of Barcelona and the European Network of Living Labs co-organise a workshop “Why Labs? Empowering citizens as drivers of innovation in Smart Cities” on April 15th in Brussels.

The workshop brings together cities and city stakeholders that have developed and implemented actions to involve and empower citizens in city innovation projects and activities. The idea is to share, for example, the best practices on how citizen engagement can be scaled and replicated in other cities, and explore the role of Labs as tools for citizen engagement.
