Forum Virium’s partner network is world wide, emphasis being in Europe. Companies piloting their new solutions are the key players in our Smart City projects. Cities provide the testbed for piloting. Universities and research institutions are important partners in our project consortiums. European Unions funding instruments make all the innovations possible.

Public sector and networks

The European Commission is ultimately responsible for managing the EU budget. In practice, up to 80 percent of the budget expenditure is managed by EU countries under so-called shared management, particularly in the areas of agriculture, growth and employment aid to EU regions.

Interreg is a series of programmes to stimulate cooperation between regions in and out of the European Union (EU), funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Interreg Europe helps regional and local governments across Europe to develop and deliver better policy.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body created by the European Union in 2008 to strengthen Europe’s ability to innovate. The EIT is an integral part of Horizon 2020, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

The City of Paris is the centre and seat of government of the Île-de-France, or Paris Region, which has an estimated population of 12,3 million, or about 18 percent of the population of France.
